Playtech Taking the Lead
Not every company is sitting back and waiting for the dust to clear
from poker’s Black Friday. Playtech has taken the lead and
is getting ready for the United States to change their online poker
regulations. Playtech recently announced an agreement with Sciplay
to provide intrastate online poker services to the state of California.
The deal for Playtech with COPA (California Online Poker Association)
puts Playtech in a great position as they will be the sole provider
of online poker software in the state. Not only will Playtech benefit
when California players are able to play poker online, the company
will also benefit when the United States changes their current online
poker regulation. Many people believe the U.S. will allow online
poker later this year as a bill is currently pending in congress.
COPA has estimated that about 2 million California residents play
online poker and place more than $13 billion dollars in wagers each
year. Playtech is expected to start by providing “free”
poker games to players in the state and then real money games when
online poker is allowed in California.
Playtech has proven once again that they are one of the top online
gaming companies in the world. The deal with COPA is a huge one
for Playtech and positions the company to be at the forefront of
online poker for many years to come.
